In Belgium, near the boarder with Germany, countless American Soldiers gave their life during WWII. More than 125,000 Americans lost their life during a brutal "battle" fighting the German forces, many of them during the "Battle of the Bulge". In a location near the epic "Battle of the Bulge", outside the Belgian village of Henri-Chapelle, many of those American Soldiers were laid to rest in what is called an American Military Cemetery.

I lack the vocabulary or the ability to fully explain the full scope of emotions that visiting this sight evoked. Initially I felt this Dec. 2012 snow storm would hamper and limit my photographs. But after reviewing the images I felt the snow and weather actually added additional emotion fitting of the experiences of these great men that gave their life fighting the "Enemy".

One grave in particular caught my attention. Not because of the name of the Soldier, but because nearly 4000 miles from his home in the United States someone took the time to honor him by placing rather fresh flowers at his grave.
